London / Independent Geopolitical & Security Research

Strategic clarity on the Middle East and Gulf, delivered in private.

Ephemeris Advisory LLP is an independent geopolitical and security research consultancy headquartered in London. We examine Gulf strategic dynamics, defence agreements and transnational security cooperation through neutral, non-partisan policy research — produced for a small number of institutional clients, never for publication.

§ 01 — Position

An independent research house, not a public platform.

Ephemeris is structured for one purpose: judgements that decision-makers can rely on, produced without institutional alignment, public audience or political mandate.

I — INDEPENDENT

Neutral and non-partisan

We accept no government mandate and take no public position. Our analysis does not advocate for any state, party or faction in the regions we study.

II — UNOFFICIAL

Private by design

All research is unofficial. We do not release findings to mass media, run public campaigns, or attach clients' names to published commentary.

III — CLOSED

A vetted expert network

Work is led by senior regional security analysts from European think-tank backgrounds, supported by an invitation-only network engaged case by case.

What we do

  • Private policy briefs and strategic assessments
  • Academic-grade analysis with full source trails
  • Independent verification of claims and events
  • Confidential verbal briefings for decision-makers

What we do not do

  • Mass-media publishing or public relations work
  • Lobbying, advocacy or campaign support
  • Work that advances any government's official line
  • Public attribution of network contributors
§ 02 — Research Focus

Six lines of inquiry, one method: locate, verify, then judge.

Our mandate is deliberately narrow — the strategic politics and security architecture of the Middle East, centred on the Gulf.

Gulf geopolitics & regional order

GCC politics, Saudi–Iranian dynamics, alignment and hedging, succession and domestic stability, and the energy–security nexus.

Defence agreements & commitments

Bilateral and multilateral defence pacts, basing and access arrangements, arms transfers, interoperability and alliance credibility.

Transnational security cooperation

Gulf and Red Sea maritime security, counter-terrorism, intelligence liaison, border management, and cyber and critical-infrastructure cooperation.

Conflict & crisis analysis

Trajectories in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen; escalation pathways; ceasefire, mediation and de-escalation dynamics.

Scenarios & strategic warning

Time-based scenario planning, early-warning indicators and policy options for institutions, governments and long-term investors.

Verification & primary-source research

Multilingual open-source collection, geolocation and chronolocation, document analysis, and cross-checking against vetted specialists.

§ 03 — Coverage

Five desks, centred on the Gulf.

Each desk reads primary material in the languages of the region and applies the same London-held standards for sourcing and review.

DESK / 01

Gulf & Arabian Peninsula

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen.

DESK / 02

Levant & Iraq

Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and the Palestinians.

DESK / 03

Iran, Türkiye & South Caucasus

Iran, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.

DESK / 04

Israel & the Palestinians

The Israeli–Palestinian arena and Eastern Mediterranean security.

DESK / 05

Egypt, Red Sea & the Nile

Egypt, Sudan and the Red Sea approaches to the Horn of Africa.

Languages

Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Hebrew, Kurdish, French and English. The Maghreb, Sahel and Horn of Africa are monitored as neighbouring theatres and covered by arrangement.

§ 04 — Approach

How a judgement is built.

We favour patient analysis over premature certainty. Every assessment is traceable, reviewed, and explicit about what remains uncertain.

Traceable by default

Every judgement carries its sources. Conclusions are delivered only when the underlying evidence can be shown to the client.

Primary material, seven languages

Analysts work from local media, official statements, legal texts and social platforms directly — not from translated summaries.

Closed expert review

Drafts are challenged by senior desk analysts and independent specialists from the network before delivery.

Cross-corroboration

Geolocation, chronolocation and bias assessment. A single source is a lead; independent sources are a finding.

Scenarios over predictions

We set out plausible trajectories, their indicators and their implications — not false confidence in a single forecast.

Legal & ethical rigour

UK GDPR, sanctions and conflict-of-interest screening are applied to every client and every mandate before work begins.

§ 05 — The Network

Senior analysts, not a public roster.

Ephemeris is led and operated by senior regional security analysts with careers in European research institutes. Around the core team stands a closed, invitation-only network of specialists — former diplomatic and defence practitioners, academics, and vetted in-region sources.

Contributors are engaged mandate by mandate and are never publicly listed or attributed. That protection is what allows serving and former officials, and scholars inside the region, to speak with precision.

  • ASenior regional security analysts with European think-tank and policy-institute backgrounds
  • BFormer diplomatic, defence and intelligence-community practitioners, engaged case by case
  • CAcademic specialists in Gulf politics, political economy, Islamic law and security studies
  • DVetted in-region sources used for validation, never for unattributed public claims
§ 06 — Briefings & Papers

Private policy research, in four forms.

Outputs are written for officials, institutional leaders and their staffs — in the register of a policy brief or working paper, not of journalism.

PB

Policy Briefs

Concise, decision-ready briefs on fast-moving developments: what happened, what is verified, what follows, and what to watch.

SA

Strategic Assessments

Longer-horizon analysis of structural shifts — defence postures, regional alignments, conflict trajectories — with scenarios and indicators.

WP

Academic Analysis & Working Papers

Rigorous, fully sourced studies in the academic policy tradition, prepared for private circulation and institutional archives.

BM

Bespoke Mandates & Verbal Briefings

Commissioned research and confidential oral briefings, including scenario exercises for leadership teams and crisis groups.

Distribution

All products are circulated privately to clients and invited recipients under written confidentiality terms. Nothing is released to mass media or placed in the public domain without a client's written instruction.

§ 07 — Engagement

How a mandate proceeds.

01 / INTRODUCTION

Enquiry

Most mandates begin by introduction. Preliminary enquiries are handled by a partner within one business day.

02 / SCREENING

Conflicts & sanctions

Every client and mandate undergoes sanctions, legal and conflict-of-interest screening before any work starts.

03 / SCOPING

Terms

We agree the question, method, deliverable, timing and confidentiality terms in writing.

04 / RESEARCH

Analysis & review

Primary-source research, cross-corroboration, expert review and partner sign-off.

05 / DELIVERY

Private briefing

The assessment is delivered in writing and, where useful, in a confidential oral briefing session.

§ 08 — Contact

Request a briefing.

Enquiries from institutions, governments, investors and research partners are welcome. Preliminary correspondence is treated in confidence.
